Grandma Sigurjonsson's Sugar Cookies


2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Cover and chill about one hour. Grease cookie sheets. Roll out chilled dough to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured board. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes (until lightly browned around the edges).

Do these make good cutout cookies? I need a good sugar recipe to enjoy with my boys and some cookie cutters.

They do make great cutout cookies. This one is our favorite. It is my grandma's recipe.
